About Rick Yorgey

I have lived and ministered in the African American community in Washington, DC, since 1990 and have been coaching individuals in the area of racial dynamics for over 10 years. Having immersed myself in the culture in DC, I have developed many close relationships which have challenged me, schooled me, and loved me. My own journey in understanding and valuing individuals from various ethnicities is ongoing and I bring a “certainly haven’t arrived yet” heart to the conversation. I have strong relational skills and gifting which enable me to come alongside individuals where they are and walk with them on their journey.

Rick has helped me turn my life around from using and selling drugs. We have met regularly for approximately 30 years to discuss the bible, life, family. Rick is always there when life shows up and there are tough issues to deal with and he's a very good listener and tactful adviser. He'd be an asset for any organization.

Rick has worked as part of the same organization as me for some time. During this time, Rick has provided organizational leadership in understanding our/others stories, particularly as it relates to race and ethnicity. This is a topic that is personally difficult for me and continues to be something I'm growing in. Rick has also provided personal coaching and mentorship for me in this area. Rick's ability to engage with me and continue to make sure I am heard even when we disagree is one of the things I appreciate most about my times with him. I believe others would find Rick to be a man who has strong convictions that he isn't afraid to share while simultaneously moving in a loving way toward those he is engaging with. I refer Rick Yorgey with full confidence.

Church Friend -
Rick Yorgey is a man of integrity. He has been a tremendous blessing to our church over the years and also to our family personally. He has preached many messages at our church in his role as associate pastor. He and his wife felt a calling to plant themselves in a primarily black church. Rick makes it a point to know everyone's name and is always welcoming and approachable. I am a black man and consider Rick my brother. My sons even call him Uncle Rick. Rick is touched deeply by the inequities in society and strives to bring reconciliation to his community. He has also adopted and raised two black sons. He and his wife Debbie still give counsel and encouragement to my wife and me in our marriage as well as personal encouragement to me and my sons. I really don't know how he does all that he does but it definitely takes a great level of commitment and selflessness.

I am writing this recommendation and referral about Richard S. Yorgey. Since the mid 90's Mr. Richard S. Yorgey has been an outstanding example as a life coach, pillar within the black community, counselor, brother and an absolute great neighbor to me and many others in my neighborhood and community for many many years and without any agenda but care and love. Because of Richard Yorgey's coaching and great counsel I am now a commercial airline pilot and thriving in other aspects of my life. My brotherhood and fellowship with Richard Yorgey has taken me from some dark places mentally and spiritually and into a brighter light overall and literally just from the power of words: encouraging, friendship, wisdom, nurturing and just good old fashion old speaking, human to human. In closing, Richard S. Yorgey is an outstanding example and exudes all qualities of what a leader should be in these times today.
