About Tyler Burns

Over the past 10 years, I have spent extensive time in both church and non-profit spaces providing guidance to those who are navigating racial dynamics. I have worked individually with pastors who are trying to reckon with their own racial blindspots and those who are hoping to implement racial reconciliation strategies in their churches. I have also worked with non-profit organizations that are seeking to improve their treatment of employees, navigate cultural conversations, and be part of promoting positive change in culture.

My favorite part of this work is walking a person, church, or organization through a racial justice awakening. Through RJUC, I am excited to officially offer my coaching and consulting expertise for the benefit of anyone who needs it. I am excited to create open minds, soft hearts, and more equitable communities.

Tyler is an amazing commmunicator. He has helped me broach racial justice issues in a megachurch context and has done an incredible job at educating and bringing people together. He has also been a tremendous help to me in terms of research and helping me with my own communication around these issues. I've never met anyone like him, to have such a brilliant mind, eloquent speech, and a spirit that invites and disarms, rather than triggers. I could recommend him any higher.

Tyler Burns and I have been the co-hosts of the Pass The Mic podcast for over 10 years. In that capacity, Tyler has used his skills as both a pastor and racial justice advocate to help tens of thousands of our listeners maintain faith in God and move toward a more equitable tomorrow. Tyler led the conversation on our episode, "Black Christians, Don't Negotiate Your Dignity." He reminded people that they do not have to compromise the respect they are due just to fit into white Christian spaces. His voice was integral in our #LeaveLoud campaign which helped people embrace their stories and speak about their experiences of racial trauma in the church. He has led The Witness, a Black Christian Collective since I left in 2021. Tyler has helped plan and lead two Joy and Justice national conferences. He has also pastored Rise City Church through many unexpected changes and challenges. People nationwide contact Tyler individually for his advice and a wisdom that exceeds his years.
